I’m so excited to walk you through my latest kitchen renovation in Hamilton, Ontario. My client had a dated and deteriorating galley kitchen that was in desperate need of an upgrade to best suit their busy family of three. We stripped the old kitchen down to the drywall and got to work rebuilding their dream space.

Our look: modern farmhouse kitchen. 

Our goal: clean lines, neutral tones. and lots of natural light (via brand-new skylights). 

Open Shelving

One of my favourite things about this reno is the open shelving. My clients had upper cabinetry before but opted to build an offsite pantry to store and organize dry food. We added custom floating shelves that are both functional and airy. We kept essential dishes, cookbooks and greenery on top. You’ll find the rest hidden away in the pantry. No clutter here!

Neutral Tones

This walnut cabinetry from Golden Home Cabinetry is simply stunning. I love the natural grain of these cabinets alongside the 405 Midday Caesarstone countertops from their outdoor collection. This neutral stone with splashes of a warm grey pairs well with the porcelain cement floor tiles by M2 Tile & Stone and anthracite modern farmhouse sink from Blanco. 

I chose matte black hardware that really draws the eye, inviting you to pull open a drawer and start cooking your fave dishes.

Now back to these Caesarstone countertops because I clearly can’t get enough. We ran them straight up the backsplash opting for a look with no seams or grouting – all part of our very clean, clutter-free grand plan. Our client was thrilled with how open, bright and functional the kitchen space is.
