It’s a Vibe: Highlights and Inspiration from My Trip to Miami

I always tell my clients there’s nothing quite like a pop of colour to completely transform the mood of a room.

And if you’re looking to boost your own mood, I can attest that a quick girls getaway to Miami is just what the doctor ordered.

From the vibrant murals of Wynwood Walls to the vivid (and oh-so mouthwatering) tropical fruit we enjoyed, my recent trip to South Florida proved an uplifting treat for my senses and my spirit. It was a replenishing change of scenery after these tough two years and has filled me with decorating inspiration for the warm months ahead.

Below are just some of the memorable cultural and culinary highlights from my trip!

  1. Motek Cafe: With its design motif of fresh florals and lush greenery, Motek cafe is serving up authentic Israeli food that transports you to the heart of Tel Aviv.I ordered avocado toast on an Israeli bagel that I’m still dreaming about! Yu-um.

  2. Wynwood Walls: It’s hard not to feel inspired during a visit to The Wynwood Walls. This walkable, outdoor gallery of international street art has something new to discover around every corner. It’s a can’t-miss cultural excursion for anyone who loves art, people watching, or just being surrounded by cool. And whatever you do, don’t miss the treats from Night Owl Cookie Co.!

  3. Miami Juice: This Miami institution is known for dishing out casual comfort food using only the freshest local ingredients (think papaya, citrus and coconut). The multi-generational energy here reminded me of Toronto’s United Bakers with a huge menu of breakfasts, sandwiches, salads and goodies. So good!

  4. Strawberry Moon: I could go on about this place for days — from its delicious Mediterranean fare to its deco-inspired pink decor and poolside vibe this place is definitely my jam! Located in the heart of SoBe, this resto-bar (co-owned by Pharrell Williams) is fun, unique and SO Miami.

  5. Bal Harbour Shops: You’d be hard-pressed to find a more splendid shopping experience than Bal Harbour. This open-air enclave is teeming with luxury retailers and trendy eateries, but what makes it truly special are the beautiful water features and landscaping infused throughout. A shopping oasis in the heart of Miami, ahh.
